A History of CommuniCare Health Centers:
The Davis Free Clinic Begins
The Davis Free Clinic begins offering limited services with part time hours. Services quickly expand to include substance use treatment, women’s health, perinatal care & pediatrics.
Davis Community Clinic
The renamed Davis Community Clinic, moves from three rented houses in downtown Davis to a former grocery store, allowing operations to consolidate everything in one location and accommodate 10,000 patient visits per year.
John H. Jones Community Clinic
Substance use treatment is offered at the John H. Jones Community Clinic, our first satellite location in West Sacramento.
Dental Services
Dental services begin being offered at the Davis Community Clinic, in Davis, and Salud Clinic, in West Sacramento.
Peterson Clinic
Within three years, Dental services expand to include Peterson Clinic in Woodland.
Management of Salud Clinic & Peterson Clinic
Management of Salud Clinic in West Sacramento and Peterson Clinic in Woodland is assumed.
CommuniCare
The name CommuniCare is adopted to describe the family of health centers that today includes the Davis Community Clinic, Hansen Family Health Center, Salud Clinic, and satellite locations located throughout the Yolo County area.
Davis Community Clinic and CommuniCare’s administrative offices
The Davis Community Clinic and CommuniCare’s administrative offices moves into a modern facility north of Sutter Davis Hospital.
Federally Qualified Health Center
CommuniCare becomes a Federally Qualified Health Center.
Migrant Health Center Outstanding Service Award
The National Association of Community Health Centers awards CommuniCare with the Migrant Health Center Outstanding Service Award.
2009 Medical Community Award
Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society selects CommuniCare as recipient of the 2009 Medical Community Award.
Hansen Family Health Center
A brand new, state-of the art facility, Hansen Family Health Center opens in Woodland, replacing the Peterson Clinic.
Family Wellness Center
Family Wellness Center opens in Woodland to provide expanded behavioral health services for youth and families.
Top Yolo County Healthcare Organization
In May 2019 CommuniCare Health Centers is recognized as the top Yolo County healthcare organization.
Mental Health Navigation Center
Mental Health Navigation Center begins providing services in 2019 and expands its breadth of offerings in early 2020.
Garden & Outdoor Classroom
After years of planning, the Garden & Outdoor Classroom installation continues through the global COVID-19 pandemic producing 2,000 pounds of produce in its first year.
The Respite Center
The Respite Center opens February 24th and is open daily Monday-Saturday to offer services for unhoused individuals in Davis.
Dental Office at Family Wellness Center
In August 2020, the new dental office opens at the Family Wellness Center in Woodland.
Service Enterprise Certification
Completes the three year process to earn a Service Enterprise certification being among the top 11% of nonprofits nationwide in volunteer management and organizational performance.
Renovated Davis Community Clinic
The newly renovated Davis Community Clinic opens on February 1st.
