CommuniCare’s Family & Youth Services team specializes in a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to care. Youth services are offered in-clinic, in-home, at the Yolo County Juvenile Detention Facility, at select schools and other sites within our community.
We use numerous therapeutic models to treat your unique needs, such as Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Co-Parenting, EMDR, art therapy, and more.

Services include:
- School-based services and support programs within Yolo County.
- Free resources for youth/young adults identifying as LGBTQ+.
- Preventive health screening, diagnostics and treatment for youth up to age 21.
- Individual, family and child therapy, including Wraparound services, a service to prevent or reduce out-of-home placements and develop problem-solving skills, coping skills, and self-efficacy for clients referred by Yolo County Child Welfare or Probation Department.

Programs for Families and Youth
On-site child psychiatrists work closely with the Youth Services Behavioral Health team providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations that incorporate biological, psychological, and social factors.
EPSDT is key to ensuring that children, adolescents, and transitional age youth receive appropriate mental health specialty services at no cost. EPSDT provides comprehensive and preventive health services to children under age 21 who are enrolled in Medi-Cal.

CommuniCare works in partnership with educators and administrators at schools in the Woodland Joint Unified School District and Davis Joint Unified School District. We are currently expanding our Behavioral Health services in both Districts with additional clinicians and case managers to offer valuable mental health support and resource navigation on-campus to all students.
Elevate Queer Yolo is a free resource for youth and young adults ages 12 – 26 who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, and for their friends and supporters. Through the Elevate Queer Yolo program, CommuniCare Health Centers support and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community in Yolo County. We strive to foster understanding and positive connection within the larger community through outreach programs and events.
